This tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas begins at 8:00 am when one of our representatives picks you up from your hotel in Cusco. We will cross the highlands around Cusco towards the Sacred Valley.
Visit to the Alpaca farm: The first stop is at the Awanacancha Farm where the famous South American camelids are raised: llamas, alpacas, vicuñas and guanacos. We will learn to differentiate them and learn more about their habits.

Alpaca farm
Awanacancha is a traditional Andean farm in the Sacred Valley of the Incas located near Pisac where alpacas, llamas, guanacos and vicuñas are raised, all native to the Andean region.
In Awanacancha we will learn about the history and importance of these animals for the Andean culture and economy. We will also learn about the traditional weaving techniques used to create textiles from their wool.
Alpaca breeders have gone to great lengths to make your stay as educational and enjoyable as possible, so you will have a variety of interactive exhibits that show the different breeds of South American camelids and demonstrate the cutting, spinning and weaving processes used to create Andean textiles. .
The highlight of this visit is interacting with the alpacas, llamas, guanacos and vicuñas and discovering their habits and behaviors. You will learn about wool collection and the dyeing process to create beautiful textiles.
Visit to the Taray viewpoint
The “Mirador de Taray” offers you panoramic views of the Sacred Valley and the Andes Mountains in the distance.
The ascending walk will take you between 20 to 30 minutes to the top that dominates the valley until you reach the Taray viewpoint.
On the route we will appreciate crop fields such as: corn and quinoa fields. You will also be able to meet local farmers working their crop fields.
When we reach the top we will appreciate views of the Sacred Valley such as the Urubamba River and the mountains that surround us. We will be able to take many photographs and enjoy the beauty of the Andean landscape.
In addition to the views, Mirador Taray is also a great place to learn more about the history and culture of the region. The “Mirador de Taray” is located near several important Inca ruins including the archaeological site of Pisac and the fortress of Ollantaytambo.
Pisac Inca Site (the largest Inca cemetery).
The Inca site of Pisac is located about 30 kilometers (19 miles) northeast of Cusco at an altitude of 3,400 meters (11,200 feet) above the Urubamba River. Pisac is made up of a large archaeological complex that includes remains of various Inca buildings, tombs and tombs.
The highlight is the “ Inti Watana”, an important ceremonial center for the Incas. The Inti Watana is at the highest point of the site and consists of a large rectangular platform with two concentric circular stone walls. Ollantaytambo (last living Inca city)

This city was built on an ancient Inca city, one of the last bastions of the Inca resistance that helped defend from the Spanish conquerors. Ollantaytambo is considered one of the best preserved examples of architecture of the Andean settlers.
The Ollantaytambo Fortress is the most impressive structure in the city. It is located at the top of the city and has enormous walls made of large blocks of granite. The fortress was built to defend the Sacred Valley against invading forces and played a crucial role in the defense of the region during the time of the Spanish conquest.
In Ollantaytambo we can also see the temples used for religious ceremonies and astronomical observations. The temple features several stone structures, including a large platform that was used to perform ceremonies.
To conclude our visit to Ollantaytambo we will visit the agricultural terraces built on steep slopes to allow the cultivation of crops such as corn and potatoes. The terraces are an excellent example of Inca technology and many are still used for cultivation.

Chinchero (Land of the Great Weavers)
Located at an altitude of 3,762 m, Chinchero is known as the “Land of the Great Weavers” due to its rich history and tradition in textile production. The city has been a center of textile production since the Inca Empire and many of the techniques and designs used by weavers today have been passed down to artisans from generation to generation.
Chinchero’s textile production uses natural dyes from plants and insects. Weavers use a variety of materials to create different colors, including scale insects, indigo plants, and various types of berries and leaves.
In addition to using natural dyes, Chinchero weavers are also known for their intricate designs and patterns. Many of these designs are based on traditional Inca motifs, such as the Chacana (Inca cross) and the Puma (symbol of power and strength). Weavers use a variety of techniques, including backstrap weaving and treadle looms, to create their intricate and beautiful textiles.
Today you can visit the local Chinchero textile market and watch weavers at work using traditional techniques and natural dyes to create their beautiful textiles. You can also buy handmade textiles such as scarves, blankets, bags and other crafts from local artisans.
