Rainbow Mountain in Peru has recently become one of the most popular day hikes in Cusco. At more than 5,000 meters above sea level, Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley are truly two unforgettable attractions.

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and drive 3 hours to the starting point of the hike, where our local chef will serve you a picnic breakfast with impressive views of the Vilcanota mountain range. After breakfast, begin a two-hour hike to the top of Rainbow Mountain.

Itinerary

DAY 1:

Complete tour itinerary to Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley.

We will pick you up at 4:30 am from your hotel in the city of Cusco anywhere in the city center (hotels, Airbnb, apartments or hostels) and we will go in our private transportation for 3 hours to the starting point of the walk where our chef will prepare a delicious breakfast with several options that you can choose from.

We will have enough time to appreciate the landscape of the surrounding mountains while you enjoy a cup of coffee or coca tea and prepare for the 5000-meter mountain hike that awaits you.

After breakfast, we begin the two-hour hike to the top of Vinicunca Mountain (also known as Rainbow Mountain). The trail is a gradual climb with a steep climb in the final part before reaching the summit.

We will be able to do the hike surrounding the Ausangate mountains, the highest mountain in the Cusco region accompanied by llamas and alpacas, with impressive views of the mountains and valleys.

We recommend you go with a warm jacket as well as hats, due to the cold of the mountains, gloves and a large camera to capture the magnificent views of this trip.

At the top of Rainbow Mountain, your guide will explain the origin of the color of these Andes mountains, and the importance of this mountain to the locals.
