This full-day tour takes you from Cusco to Machu Picchu by train and explores the Peruvian Andes, from the arid climate of the highlands to the dense vegetation of the cloud forest. Scientists are still trying to unravel the secrets of the “lost city of the Incas,” but new theories and studies are revealing new details about this amazing miracle.

For the day trip to Machu Picchu, we recommend arriving in Cusco a few days in advance to acclimatize and stay in a hotel near the center and with easy access.
Pick up time: 4:00 am – We will pick you up from your hotel at this time, which may be earlier or later depending on the final train schedule. If you are staying in the Sacred Valley, We will pick you up between 6 am and 7 am due to its proximity to Ollantaytambo.
After picking you up, we will begin with an excursion to the Ollantaytambo train station, where you will board the train to Machu Picchu Pueblo (town of Aguas Calientes). The trip lasts 1.5 hours and takes you through stunning landscapes in the middle of the Andes and the cloud forest. Upon arrival at the last stop, our guide will be waiting for you for a bus ride to Machu Picchu, which lasts about 30 minutes.
We will arrive at the entrance of Machu Picchu around 10:00 am early enough to enjoy this ancient wonder. Just be sure to present your original tickets and passports.
Once there, we will have time to explore Machu Picchu with the talk and guidance of your exclusive Peru Local Expeditions tour guide, which will take you between 2 and 3 hours. The route includes circuit 1 or 2 and includes the most important buildings such as viewpoints, guardhouses, terraces, temples, palaces, etc.; You’ll also be able to stop at the best spots to take great photos and relax while enjoying the fantastic views.
After the tour, you will board the bus to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo), we will have lunch (NOT INCLUDED IN THE TOUR) and we will also have time to take a walk around the city. And if the weather permits we can enter the thermal medicinal waters.
Later in the afternoon you will board the train to Ollantaytambo, where you will pick up our equipment and transportation and take you to Cusco. If you want a better experience, you can book the Vistadome train, which includes live entertainment, as well as more spacious seats and windows. We will take you to your hotel between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
