Itinerary

DAY 1:

Cusco – 82 km – City – Ayapata

We begin pickup at your hotel in Cusco around 4:30 am. From there we headed to Ollantaytambo to have breakfast and visit our social project , where we support the education of local children.

Then, we will drive for 1 hour to Kilometer 82 (Pueblo de Piscakucho) to begin our private hike along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. At km 82 we have to pass the control where they ask us to present our original passports; Once you have passed the controls, we begin your local expeditions in Peru! to the great “Lost City of the Incas”.

The first part of the private Inca Trail trek is a 4-hour walk along winding streams, local villages, ancient Inca sites and stunning views of the Andes until you reach the town of Hatunchaca, where you will enjoy a well-deserved lunch. Our trekking chef prepares delicious meals with local products and offers you a buffet with several options.

After lunch, the second part of the day consists of a two-hour hike to Ayapata, the first camp on the trail. When you arrive you will find your tents already set up and comfortable beds for the night. We also provide hot water for washing. In the afternoon, enjoy Inca tea before dinner, where the guide will explain the plan for the next day and entertain you with a great story.

This day starts very early with a cup of hot coffee or coca tea in your tent. After a nutritious breakfast, we will begin our hike for 4 hours to the highest point of the private Inca Trail, Warmiwañusca or Col de la Femme Morte at 4,215 m (13,828 ft).

At the top, our staff will prepare a coca tea to help you cope with the altitude. Then we continue for 2 hours to the lunch place in the Pacaymayu Valley.

After lunch, we will climb up the second mountain for 2 hours to Runkuraqay Pass at 4000 m (13,123 ft), passing through different microclimates and two Inca sites (Runkuraqay and Sayacmarca) and admiring the magnificent views of the mountains and the lake. The second camp is Chaquicocha at 3,600 m (11,811 ft). At night, clear skies are ideal for stargazing at this campsite!

Once we have overcome both mountains, we begin the third day of the private hike to Machu Picchu descending from the Andes towards the cloud forest and enjoying the spectacular views of the Vilcanota and Salkantay mountains until we reach the third and final camp, Wiñaywayna at 2,600 m. . reaching M. (8,530 feet).

The first part is a relatively easy two-hour hike to the Inca site of Phuyupatmarca (City in the Clouds, 3,650 m – 11,972 ft), where we will rest and observe Machu Picchu (mountain) from a distance. The second part begins with a sudden descent from the high mountains into the lush cloud forest. On the way we will visit Intipata (Terrazas del Sol) where we can enjoy fantastic views before arriving at the lunch location. After lunch, we have the afternoon free to hunt llamas, visit the Inca sites of Wiñaywayna and take a refreshing shower.

On the last day, we will leave before dawn to arrive at the Puerta del Sol (Intipunku) early before dawn to enjoy the stunning views of Machu Picchu. Get up earlier, around 4:00 am, have breakfast at 4:30 am and wait at the checkpoint until 5:30 am to start the walk. The first hour goes to Sungate, then another hour to Machu Picchu.

Arriving at the lost Inca citadel, we have a coffee, leave the hiking equipment at the Lakers and begin the private tour of Machu Picchu. Your guide will take you to the highlights and show you the best of Machu Picchu. Then you will take the bus to Aguas Calientes, have lunch (NOT INCLUDED IN THE TOUR) and board the exclusive panoramic trains (Vistadome or 360°) to Ollantaytambo and back to Cusco in a comfortable van. The estimated time of arrival at your hotel is 7:30 p.m.

What to Bring

Inca Trail will be completed in 4 days. However, the private Inca Trail tour allows you to hike at your own pace with a private team of porters, guides, and a private guide. You can adjust the itinerary if necessary.
The minimum number of participants for this tour is 1 person. There is no maximum number of participants as we can split the group at checkpoints when we hike and camp together. The price of the private Inca Trail depends on the number of travelers in your group.

Travel Guide

Remember that backpacks for Machu Picchu should not contain more than 25 liters; However, if your bag is too big, don’t worry. They will make it look small on the last day when we arrive at the citadel of Machu Picchu.

Hydration Bladder/Water Bottle: You must have a container with a minimum capacity of 2 liters. Single-use plastic water bottles are prohibited on the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu. After the first lunch we provide Machu Picchu with boiled water.

What do you carry in your duffel bag?

Duffel bags will be given to you at the briefing the day before your visit. You can store all the things you don’t need during the day. Remember that you will only be able to access this bag at campsites. A maximum of 7 kilos per person is allowed and will be transported by our porters to Machu Picchu Pueblo (city of Aguas Calientes). The 7 kilo one includes sleeping bags (2 kilos) and inflatable mattress (1 kilo).
