Lunch will take place in the town of Tarayoc, where our chef will prepare buffet meals for you using fresh local products. The second part is a two-hour walk along the left bank of the Kusichaca River to Wayllabamba, where we will camp near the locals. As soon as you arrive, the tents will be ready. The day begins with a 4-hour hike to our lunch spot in Llulluchapampa at 3,800 m (12,467 ft). Along the way you will experience different microclimates, such as cloud forests with dense vegetation, flowers and hummingbirds along the ancient Inca Trail, paved with stones more than 500 years ago.
After a well-deserved lunch, begin the final two-hour climb to the top of Warmiwañusca Mountain (Dead Women’s Pass), the highest point of the Inca Trail. As we enjoy the view and regroup, your guide will explain the significance of these highlights and perform a ritual to thank the local gods for safe passage. The final part of the day is a two-hour descent to the Pacaymayo Alto campsite at 3,650 m (11,975 ft).
After breakfast, start climbing the second mountain called Runkuraqay at 4,000 m (13,123 ft); On the way you will visit an archaeological site of the same name, you will enjoy wonderful views of mountains, waterfalls, lakes and a breathtaking view of the Urubamba Mountain Range. First, it’s a one-hour walk to Puerta del Sol, where you’ll get the first and most impressive view of the great city of Machu. Picchu. After enjoying the view and solitude of this place, the descent towards the citadel begins for another hour. We arrived late in the afternoon, which gave us a unique opportunity to see Machu Picchu with fewer people. We only visited the upper part, took the bus to Aguas Calientes, had dinner at a local restaurant and stayed in a 3-star hotel (Susanna INN or similar).
Enjoy an early breakfast at your hotel and take the first bus to Machu Picchu. Upon arrival at the checkpoint you must present your original passport; You will explore the best places in Machu Picchu. The tour lasts approximately 3 hours. You have time to explore the citadel on your own and climb Huayna Picchu Mountain or Machu Picchu Mountain (unlike Machu Picchu Citadel and tickets must be booked well in advance). After exploring the fortress, take the bus to Aguas Calientes, have lunch ( NOT INCLUDED IN THE TOUR) and take the Vistadome panoramic train back to Ollantaytambo and then a private van back to Cusco.
